  1. Rila Monastery
Enlisted as a UNESCO List of Global Cultural Heritage in 1983, Rila Monastery is the largest monastery in Sofia, Bulgaria and is among the most visited attractions of the country. It is beautifully nestled in the heart of the Rila Mountains where it had been residing since 10th century and survived the test of time over the years and decades of its existence. The monastery protects the Christian faith and the Bulgarian education and culture, and it symbolizes Bulgaria as a whole. The monastery complex covers an area of 8,800 square meters with nearly 300 rooms, 100 of which are monastic cells.
  1. Madara Rider
The Madara Rider was included in the UNESCO list in 1979 as a unique rock relief. Located in the northeast of the country, it has an impressive image carved by an unknown artist on a cliff at a height of 23 meters. The carving dates back to more than 1000 years but still the image of a horseman with a spear, a wounded lion, fallen at the feet of the horse and a hunting dog, is pretty  much visible. In 2008, the Madara Rider was elected as a global symbol of Bulgaria.
  1. Boyana Church
Another UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sofia, Bulgaria is the Boyana Church “St. Nicholas and St. Panteleimon”. Located at the foot of Vitosha Mountains, the church holds unique traits of its existence. It was built in the end of the 10th and the beginning of the 11th century. The church stands out for the several layers of frescoes. Additionally, multiple colourful images of Christ, Holy Mary, Bulgarian kings, queens and saints make the ambiance all the more vibrant and attractive.
